Stealthy Airliner

767 series: Standard classic Boeing cockpit windows. Similar to the 757 windows they are large and have a distinctive side window with 4 edges as opposed to Airbus' 5 edged side windows.
*Airplanes 101*
767 series: A widebody but less wide than the Airbus series A300 through to A340 line. It's known as a "stubby" 767 since the -200 appears somewhat short in length for it's size plus the tail cone seems more pronounced than in the larger versions.
*Airplanes 101*
767-200: Has only 1 emergency exit over the wing on each side. The -300 & -400 have two on each side.
*Airplanes 101*
767 series: Very large tall tail with squared edges. The tailcone is very pronounced and cone shaped tapering from both the top and bottom somewhat equally. An exhaust for the APU is at the end.
*Airplanes 101*
767 series: Two large underwing engines.
*Airplanes 101*
767 series: Two large 4 wheeled underwing landing gear. No center gear.
*Airplanes 101*
767 series <---No production winglets although after sale ones can be added on but so far not many carriers have installed them.
*Ariplanes 101*
*Airplanes 101*
The front wheel well is positioned under the cockpit whereas some other widebodies (A300 series) have it further behind & closer to the first door.

US Airways' 767-200ER N653US at Schiphol back on Oct 9th 2003. I always thought this stealthy looking livery was one of the best... today it's been updated since the merger with American West.

The new look is just as good if not even better.

*Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set)
Name: Boeing 767-200, 767-200F
Manufacturer: Boeing (USA) .
Main Role: large capacity medium-very long range mainline jetliner
Basic design: Two engined double ailed wide body mainline jetliner.
Capacity: Roughly 180-255 passengers
Range: 5800km -12200km
First delivery date: 1982
Still in production in 2006: Yes
Easily confused for: the Airbus A300, A310, 777,
Main identifying points: The tail cone and tail are probably the 767's best identifyer.. the cone is very conical and the tail's baseline sweeps down to meet it whereas most Airbus widebodies have a relatively horizontal baseline in their tails. Also the 767 has sharper and more defined edges on the tail and cockpit windows than the Airbus rivals. Some aftermarket 767 winglets (like those on the latest 737s) are available but so far are rare sights. The 767-200 is like most shortened or shorter versions of a model very stubby in appearance. This aircraft was tailored to the North American market in a manner the A300/A310 was tailored to the European market so you tend to see US Airlines flying these en mass while the Airbus products are slightly more popular in Europe.
Examples of Main Operators: Continental, American, United, US Airways, Air Canada, and many more. The -200 is less popular than the larger -300 model these days as many airlines are starting to retire them from service. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Boeing_767_operators

I've flown them once a few years ago... to Grand Rapids through Pittsburgh. It was probably the best US airline I've flown so far.

Nice! Keep an eye out the next few times you are at PHX and PHL...USAirways recently announced they are re-painting 4 A320s in the "retro" colors of their four predecessors. The America West one is out. I am eagerly awaiting the look of a PSA Smile :-D

Yeah cool! For me it would be Piedmont since they flew here back when they were in existence. Seeing PSA again too will be amazing as well!
