Nice shot! I'm flying CO from Newark to Amsterdam in July...only I'll be stuck on a 757. Oh well...

Thanks for the comment!

Oh well, it won't be all that bad. You could be taking a charter airline's plane with twice as much seating as is normally called for... plus Continental has one of the best reputations for Trans-Atlantic cabin service of any carrier flying across the ocean... plus you are going to Amsterdam, one of the coolest cities in Europe and landing in one of the best airports in the world... plus not many carriers fly 757s across the pond so it's kinda unique and interesting and because of that exciting... I'd be looking forward to it all :)

Caribb, Does CO have PTVs on those 757s? AA only has them on their 777s, though they use 767s for long int´ls too. Some people could take em or leave em, but for me I find that PTVs do help pass the time better. Since I am always in coach, anything that gets my mind off of being folded into a 30"x50" space for 10 hours helps.

Oh great photo BTW. It is a beautiful plane, and the 777 looks really good in CO colors.

Hum good question. I've never flown Continental mainline so I really don't know. The only CO 757 cabin shots on airliners.net are from 1994 and there were no PTV's back then.

I agree with you though, I like PTV's a lot. My first experience was with Swiss on YUL-ZRH... We took off, I watched two movies and by the time they were over we were just coming in over England so the whole flight flew by in no time. KLM by comparison has no PTV's and the flight drags after 4 or 5 hours. So in a way I think they are essential in today's world. Also I agree with you - CO & the 777 go well together.

Looking over the stuff for my trip the CO 757s won't be getting PTVs for a while. One can only hope...like I am hoping for an equipment substitution in July :-p.

Well... perhaps you can bring a video Ipod or portable DVD player on board and just go nuts.

Hi All,
Nice pic!!
I know this post is old and I agree with the 757 accross the pond! Too Small. But efficient and making COA $$ right now. Ok with this employee.. ;-)
I have lots of interior pics of COA's ETOPS 757's if anyone is particularly interested??? I will post them here in a few days.
Best to All,

It seemed trans-Atlantic 757s breathed new life into the 757 line. Too bad Boeing closed it, perhaps it would have sold more. I'm a fan of point to point service. I do everything to avoid hubs but that's not the trend among American fliers by what I see.

Just to add a bit more to the discussion (greetings from Oslo by the way!), after having done the 757 transatlantic I have to say I prefer it more than anything bigger. No lines for luggage or immigration and the service is in my opinion more personal.

Hey FlyGuy92586 glad your trip overseas went well! How's Oslo? Good to hear the 757 was a pleasant trip. We all flew 707s and DC-8s back in their day so I guess it's just the same except probably a little more comfortable. Now there are 737BBJ's and A319's flying transatlantic so I guess things are evolving back to where they were in a sense. I'm glad to hear this and your remarks... As a passenger I hate big hubs so anything that's a hub buster I'm for :)

The 15 hours that I had in Oslo were amazing...such a beautiful city and amazing (and expensive!) country. I want to go back, but only when I have more money. I achieved my goals of hitting all three Scandic capitals in three days :-D. I'm now in Copenhagen and might try and spot at the airport there on the way back to Sweden.

I've always wanted to see what flying a 737 would be like across the Atlantic or even on Aloha or Westjet to Hawaii (similar distance). Would I go stir-crazy?

I agree about the big hubs...many are confusing and stupidly laid out.
