Pull Up A Chair

Pull Up A Chair

Sunrise Saturday morning was unexpected. I was fast asleep (sleeping like a baby) and my husband woke me up and told me to check out sunrise. I glanced out the window and raced outside with my camera/tripod (still in my PJ's mind you) and started setting up. The color was already going off at this point and my eyes had finally started to wake up and focus...LOL. It lasted for a good 15 minutes.

As I was shooting, my (fur child as I like to call her) Millie, was dying for attention and throwing her ball around like she wanted to play. I was more concerned with sunrise at the time so she figured if she jumped in the chair she'd get my attention...WELL....that worked. HA HA. This was the first shot I took and then she jumped down and I couldn't get her to jump back up. Yup, she got my attention alright. :)

I'm starting to run out of foreground ideas for last minute shots in my yard. So far I've used my mailbox, house, driftwood, and now my chair with my attention hog of a dog. After this I have no more foreground ideas....guess I better get up earlier and actually prepare for it...HAHA. :)

Meet Me At The Old Oak Tree

Meet Me At The Old Oak Tree

We had some snow flurries here last night and I believe the light was catching those snow flurries and turning them a vibrant red. This light only lasted about 2 or 3 minutes and then it got REALLY cold....colder than I'm used to since it's been in the 60's for a while. ;)

I shot this with a fellow phototog last night, hence the title of our conversation. It's always more fun shooting with people than by myself. At the time I didn't notice, but looking at the image now I've noticed that the lighter clouds are almost surrounding the tree in a similar shape as if I had darkened all of the clouds around it....strange. Thanks for taking the time to look at my page...happy shooting everyone! :)

Old Can Be Beautiful Too

Old Can Be Beautiful Too

Sunset was really nice here in NC last night. I was on my way home from work and noticed that one of the farmers had moved his old Ford tractor (that I have been wanting to shoot for a good year now) to an open field in a perfect spot for sunset. The clouds looked like they might do something so I raced home to change clothes and grab my camera. This color lasted for a good 10 minutes so after I took this picture I sat back and enjoyed the sunset. (No HDR)

Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year as the sun sets on 2011. Take care and be safe!

Scenic Parkway Sunrise

Scenic Parkway Sunrise

I had a different image on here and decided to replace it with a pano that was taken right before the sun came up. I've been waiting about a month to shoot sunrise and finally this morning it happened. On the way to work, I was stalking the clouds like usual and noticed that sunrise might be nice so I pulled off the highway and set up. This is a 4 image pano taken handheld since I only had my G10 with me. The sky was so saturated with red that I actually had to take out 11% of the red saturation because it was just too much.

If you would like to see a time lapse, my friend Dale caught this: www.flickr.com/photos/30493722@N08/6512181073/in/photostream

I have been absent for a while, but please bear with me as I catch up with everyone! :)

Backyard SunsetPlay Video

Backyard Sunset

We had a beautiful sunset here in NC on Wednesday night. I was out early enough to catch the sun flair in full glory. This was pieced together in Photoshop and consists of 572 images. I can't do a panoramic time lapse video, but I can crop it to look a little more panoramic...LOL. I guess that might be considered cheating?? LOL ;) Have a great weekend everyone!
