Stereo Realist Model 1041

Stereo Realist Model 1041 by Capt Kodak.
Manufactured from 1947 to 1971 by the David White Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (the one in my collection has a serial number that indicates it was manufactured between 1947 and 1949). A solid built 35mm stereo camera. The Model 1041 featured f3.5 lenses which were covered with a Bakelite flip up lens cover made to the front of the camera. The cover has the “Hyperfocal Table” printed inside for handy reference. The camera featured a hot shoe for flash photography. Aiming and focusing were accomplished by looking through two small viewfinder holes at the bottom rear of the back of the camera. The hole on the left provided the view for framing your photo (looking through the center lens in front). The hole on the right was connected to a range finder lens set that viewed through two small square sights at the outer edges of the lens area on the front of the camera. You lined up the top and bottom of your image for proper focus. A unique design, the lens was fixed in mount and movable film plane controlled by the focus knob on the side focused the camera.

I have the same model, serial number A5731 and took a few shots while cleaning and lubing the shutter speed clockwork.

I've still got my father's Realist. Have you got the serial numbers or do you know where they are found?

Yes, I know that. Where can I go to find out the manufacturing date or some such. I assume it was in 1955 or so, but I don't know.

Thanks. I take it that this one must have been made in the middle fifties as I supposed. It has the number 002361 on the side. I also have the viewer and some of my father's slides. I recently picked up a stereo projector with two polarized lenses. With the price of projector bulbs being so hight I haven't gotten up the nerve to turn it on yet.
