Seattle House Boats

Seattle House Boats by Cap'n Surly.
Gasworks Park Marina
Seattle, Washington

I was attracted to the stop light colors in the midst of an otherwise crappy day.

This is a great capture of a lifestyle hard-to-imagine for a Midwesterner....but very appealing. There isn't a lot of grass to mow at the Gasworks Marina.

You're right, the colors against the almost monochrome background and foreground really make this shot. I could see this as a jigsaw puzzle. Great capture!

I hate HDR with every ounce of my soul, but this one is subtle, and a excellent execution on a perfect subject for it.

I doubt the colors would've look nearly this pleasing under sunny skies. I could go for stop light-trees adopting the soft pastel color scheme you noticed here and the blue houseboat is key to making the other colors work for me. "The traffic lights turn ..uh blue tomorrow"

Excellent eye and composition here! This is a perfect example of the possibilities to be had on those crappy sky days.

David - - a photograph with art, color, and a story. Well done. I have always admired the wool knit independent folks who ride the Washington State ferries, to quiet neighborhood homes on the islands. Here independence and a unique intrinsically rewarding life style is shared in close quarters. Wonderful photograph. Thanks and a great year 2009 to you (and fewer crappy days in Seattle winter weather). OMT

The colors really do stand out against the grey. Such a cool scene. I've always wanted to see inside a houseboat. They just look so neat!
