Back to our West Coast vacation from last Fall. We left Three Rivers, CA, outside of Sequoia National Park and headed toward San Diego where we would spend the last few days of our trip. This valley west of Three Rivers looked much different than it must have a few months earlier. The creek meandering through it was small, but the green gave evidence of it having been a sizable river in Spring and Summer. The name is Kaweah River and it flows into a reservoir called Lake Kaweah---shown in the next shots. The lake was quite low!

Still fairly sizeable, but notice the waterline 30 feet or so above the water!

Lake Kaweah still gets used in spite of the low water level. In the distance, you can see the overflow pipe (?) with the waterline about 1/3 of the way down. Beyond the bridge on the left are 'fusegates' used to create electricity.

Michigan winter......it rained on us today and melted most of this snow from last week. We sure are having a strange season!

They were curious about my car stopping near their pasture. I couldn't resist---they were so close to the road.
