Sharing Foundation Fall 2008 Newsletter

Pajama Party at Roteang Orphanage - We had an absolutely overwhelming response to our request for new and gently used pajamas in the last newsletter! They came in from everywhere—more than 300 pairs- we are well supplied for a long time now! Lots of lovely new and barely used children’s clothes also arrived- One day Sally Stokes, who has been taking care of sorting and repacking, arrived home to find 10 UPS boxes on her doorstep, totally blocking her way in!
Thanks so much to everyone—many, many grown up individuals, lots of helping children, and a number of schools. In addition to the schools pictured, we thank the Leggett family’s school, Glover School in Milton, MA; Mia Cobourn’s school, Ashwood Waldorf School in Rockport, ME; and Matthew Medcraft’s 4th grade class at Center School, in Stow, Mass.

The children at Roteang Orphanage were really excited to see all the wonderful new PJs—previously they had been sleeping in clean clothes every night. We decided to have a “Pajama party”, and after every child had his/ her evening bath, we handed out new pajamas for everyone [actually the nannies, with lots of glee, picked them for their charges]. Some children were so excited they could not wait to be dried off from their baths, and it was a real struggle to pull long sleeve long legged pants over squirming little wet bodies! It was a real party, as the children posed for pictures in their new finery! They add their thanks too—most had never owned real pajamas before!
