Last weekend I was in Mallorca for a workshop with photojournalist Walter Astrada.
I got the assignment of going to the other side of the island (to Alcúdia) to cover the popular Ironman 70.3 sport event.
I had big problems to get there because many roads were closed due to the event. But I managed to reach my destination and took some images.
I had never done a sports event before and I really didn't know much what to do. I saw all these photographers from different agencies with their huge zoom lenses and I was like... ok, I have a 35mm, a 50mm and a 85mm... what the heck can I do to compete with these guys?
So I thought my only chance to survive was to be a little original and do some crazy things.
I lied down on the road (like I was dead or sleeping) with my 35mm f2 and started taking pictures of the passing by runners.
I don't remember having so much fun shooting before.
It was amazing to cover this story and it was a relief to get home, look at the pictures and think to myself: ok, these guys don't need Photoshop, they look pretty cool already...
