Barbie Shoes

I like this one best.
I got this shoe from a friend. I wish I had the other one.
Barbie Shoes by calicogem©.
This is how I keep my Barbie shoes organized.

Thanks Andrea for adding this as a favorite. He was a good provider. Andrea, did you know that Ken and Barbie divorced a few years ago? No joke!

Hehe, I keep mine in an old candy container for fireball candies. But I'm OCD, so mine are arranged in mini-ziplock bags by color and type (heels, flats, boots, etc.)

Nessa, don't feel bad. I put each Barbie outfit in a plastic bag.

I've put all my GI Joe clothes in seperate bags since I was a kid. Now I do the same for all the other Joe friends.

Thanks Dani, Alice, and Saturn for your comments.

Saturn, I think that's the only way to keep them from bugs and from absorbing miscellaneous odors.

I dig!
I just had a big go-through myself (Joe-wise).
It's work .....but it's nice to get organized.

Thanks & thanks 8 Skeins! I agree with you on the importance of organization. Back in the summer, I organized loose Barbie stuff for 6 hours. At the end, my back hurt, but it was worth it.

I went through my toys in the summer, outside, in the shed. Worst idea/summer ever.

Oh my God! This past summer was pretty damn hot. The heat made me dizzy all of the time. On a different note, I have thought about putting some toys in those large plastic containers in my patio closet, but I'm afraid that moths and mice will eat them. Were your toys safe?

Saturn Robot [deleted] says:

Plastic storage containers work pretty well. I only had one box that bugs got into. The heat is what really messed up some of my toys in the shed and the storage space in the roof.

The one thing you do have to worry about with vintage plastics is sometimes the two types of plastics will chemically react and melt into the storage bins. I've even had them melt when wrapped in acid-free tissue paper, they melted THROUGH the tissue to the plastic. So make sure you check it frequently to make sure no melting is going on. I've had that problem with erasers reacting with plastics as well. This isn't heat melting, it's chemical weirdness.

That's a very very good point Nessa. I was rudely awakened to the whole eraser scenario after I had thrown all of my erasers together in a box and put them up in my closet, because I thought I was too grown for them when I was 16. When I came back to look at them at 19 or 20, some had weirdly melted together as you mentioned, and this was just in a regular cardboard box. As of right now, the only thing I have to worry about are my loose Barbies that are in carrying cases lying next to each other. I don't want to pay $10.00 per fancy plastic display box that they have in advertisements in doll magazines, but I don't have room to display all of them separately either.

I can totally relate to the above plastic nightmares.
Plastic is wonderful and scary!

I agree 8 Skeins. Do you need to share your plastic woes here? We could start a support group.

A support group is a great idea.

I had a vintage Ken doll's feet melt to the bottom of my curio cabinet through acid free paper with a reaction with the varnish on the bottom of the cabinet! ;__; Now his once minty-feet are all brown!

*sob* it was horrible!

I gave away my Rescue Hero boat, Rescue Tower, Police Car and most Rescue Hero figures. I also donated most of the ponies, and a bunch of other toys. Gave away my ping-pong table too. Poop. Took a lot. Finally did it.

Most of the marvel 90's figures I had were getting kinda slimey feeling. All of their paints were rubbing off on to each other also. Sold 'em at a Flea market.

Saturn: No joke, it is hard to give away toys. Been there.

8 Skeins: I don't know why they don't test these plastics first. There's no telling how many toxic materials we played with when the toy companies didn't care.

Actually, the materials that Barbies are made of are not toxic. See the Wikipedia page.

As for the Barbie\Ken breakup, they were reunited in 2006. Must have been a mid-life crisis.
