Thank you. It was quite the surprise, I was driving into the park at sunset, hoping to reach the valley before sundown but when I came around a curve in the road and this beautiful scene appeared I couldn't resist stopping the car and taking in the moment - and taking this photo.

Lucky dog! I've only seen it in summer, next time I'm out there I'll have to remember to bring some snow chains with me.

Will you be adding any Yosemite images to your photostream?

BTW, you've got a great photographic eye (can't really couch for the real one[s]) and I like your high contrast and recoloring treatments. You've creatively capture some wonderful moments that are visually stimulating!

interestingly some of Adam's best shots occured just that way. The light is reminiscent of those old school oils done of the rockies in the early 1900's. This is a definite keeper

Thanks so much for the appreciation! Re: the painterly look, I think it was a combination of some wonderful warm light and the way that old UZi processes its images but this remains one of my favorites images taken with that camera. Thank you all for the comments and favs!

Zach, it was handheld, the UZi has an IS zoom lens, which helped me pull that off. FWIW, the 35mm equivalent is like 120mm at 1/30s.

I was driving into the park, racing to get to the valley before it got dark and when I turned a corner this is what I saw. I jumped out of the car, took a few frames then continued on my way. I was very fortunate to have such a warm welcome to the park!
