Bad Things that are Good for You - Daydreaming

"A boring task can lead to a wandering mind, but research has found that daydreaming can actually be a good thing. A New York University study found that people who let their minds ‘rest’ could recall information better.
‘Our data suggests if you’re not allowing yourself, not giving yourself, a break, it’s costly,’ says assistant professor Lila Davachi at NYU’s Department of Psychology and Center for Neuroscience. ‘It’s possible you’re hindering your brain’s ability to consolidate memories and experiences.’

Another study found that daydreaming could be your brain going over important, but not immediately relevant, issues when the current situation doesn’t need your full attention."
