in march 2007 i decided it was high time i got chickens! these photos chronicle their introduction into my family's life, and more.

our first three chickens -- twitter, mathilda and bella -- took 'free range' a little too boldly and, one day, went off on an adventure from which they never returned. it was halloween, we think they were spooked by the spooks while we were getting ready to trick-or-treat.

for the winter, we just had gilda. she's a docile, sweet, productive chicken who never goes outside of our yard.

in march 2008, we started with four new chicks, and by the time the week was up, there were six! they're very cute.
