The flooded area riverside from the Moorhead Center Mall. Notice a significant portion of the "road closed" sign is under water.

The train coming through despite the flood. Notice the sign in the lower left of the bridge indicating 14 feet of clearance is only inches above the water.

View of the flooded Moorhead Center Mall Parking Ramp. Note it is designed to be flooded and lies on the lower riverside portion of the Mall.

Blackhawk helicopter flying past the Hjemkomst Center as seen from the 1st Avenue Bridge in Moorhead.

This is a panorama of about 180 degrees as viewed standing on the (closed) 1st Avenue bridge, looking up river. Fargo is on the left, Moorhead on the right. The Moorhead Center mall is on the right. Its parking lot is flooded, but it is dry.

View of the river inches below the bridge deck of the 1st Avenue Bridge. I am facing downtown Moorhead. There is something disconcerting about seeing snowpack on the bridge with floodwaters right behind it.

The railroad bridge between Main and 1st Avenue in Moorhead. Notice the sign indicating 14 feet of clearance between it and the roadbed below is only inches above the water.

Wider view of the railroad bridge between Main Ave and 1st Avenue looking from Moorhead toward Fargo. Again notice the yellow 14 feet 3 inches road clearance sign inches above the water. They were still running trains over this bridge!

View of the main avenue bridge. Notice water hitting the underside of the bridge, something I have been told has never happened. Also notice the blackhawk helicopter. We have quite a few blackhawk and coast guard helicopters helping in the rescue effor

Panoramic view of the Main Avenue Bridge looking from Moorhead toward Fargo. Note that the river is normally less than a hundred feet across here and it is over twenty feet below the bottom of the bridge.

Sidewalk streetlight under water just south of the Main Avenue bridge.

The parkland just south of the Main Avenue bridge under 20 feet of water. Moorhead and Fargo place parks near the river to deal with the 100 year flood events... or at least what we thought were 100 year flood events.

Panoramic view stitched together from 16 photos of the Main Avenue Bridge.

Its not an everyday sight to see a fence go underwater like this. This is near an entry to the flooded Woodlawn Park.

I know it is hard to tell because it froze, but that is all river water behind the sandbags. Behind the house on the right, there is a pickup truck frozen into this mess.
