8 second light painting with a sparkler. Aided by a friend with a lighter. :) The 4 columns you see in the background are part of the "4 freedoms monument" along the river front in Evansville, Indiana.

No, I actually wrote it from the front. I was crouched in front of and below the lens, back facing the camera.
gotjenks - I think it was worth the amount of tries too, as well as any experiments with photography. :) Also, with a D40 you are not that limited so with some practice and a little creativity, the possibilities are pretty much endless! There is so much I want to do with this camera(and so much I want to BUY for it) that I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I guess you need time too...
