Giant African Land Snail 1
Neighbors Giant African Land Snail. This is Brian, he loves cucumber, tomato, corn and cuttlefish, he also loves a slink through the grass yard on a warm spring day :)
Update 06/11/2011:
Wow never in a million years would I have suspected that these photos
of Brian would be so popular around the web. Thanks to all the folks
that come by and leave comments and to all of you out there that have
used this photo and 'linked it back' to my stream, I do appreciate
that.

I've never seen one in person, although I have seen pics of them. He is massive and is about 14cm long is all, he can or could get to upto 40cm although 28 is avg.
Martin I have no idea really, I would imagine they are tough and cheewy though in comparison to the regular edible snails.. lol

Wow - wouldn't like to see them loose in the countryside:-) Is that a whole slice of cucumber he has in his mouth!

Er, great shot

They are quite hardy creatures and popular pets actually, which is why it's illegal to reslease them into the countryside. They would do quite well and scare lots of folks too.. lol
Yes Annette that is a quarter of a cucumber hes munching on and holding in the other shot!!

Thanks for all the visits (252,398 most of which are from the last couple days) and comments.
For yall's information Brian is on a low salt diet, but if I just happened upon one of these in all my hunts in the wild I would probably be thinking the same thing...lol
