She kept careful watch over us while we circled below her nest in our boat.

The ospreys' nest was at the top of a buoy, rising about 40 meters above the water, in the middle of the channel, about a kilometer from shore. We were in a boat and simply kept circling beneath and shooting. My lens, at 200, was at the limit of its capability. So there is a lot of noise in the photo, but still a good enough exposure for me. Probably not for the professionals. There were two of them. I presume the one buzzing us from above was the male, and the one in the nest was the female. We could not see what was in the nest. From the way they both acted, we think there were eggs or hatchlings in there.
