Little did I know when I took this picture www.flickr.com/photos/by_mike/3911927305/ last September that just nine months later I would have a much stronger emotional connection with this place.

View over Derwent Water from the top of Catbells in the Lake District.

The Arthur Wainwright guide says that Catbells is a climb suitable for small children and grandmothers. Hah! He must be referring to the grannies who go fell-running every weekend!

All very pretty, and all that, but a couple of inches of the blasted stuff brings the UK to a halt! :-(

Perhaps we could redirect some if the hot air that emanates from our political leaders and use it to keep the roads clear?

It seems to work surprisingly well - despite the difficulties of taking a selfie with an iPhone!

We had the usual turkey and all the trimmings. Charlie had the usual milk :-)
