2283 [16] Cadet Oak was present at the enterprise bridge where decisions were being taken.

What was supposed to be just a training cruise around the quadrant turned into a situation of eminent danger.

A Klingon ship attacked a Federation outpost nearby the Neutral Zone and the Enterprise was called to assist.

Cadet Oak was assisting Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott then and was invited to follow him to the bridge, the central nervous system of the ship. There, Admiral Kirk and Captain Spock where together to solve the situation.

The Enterprise plotted a course to the Space Station Icarus, a supply outpost, and found the Klingon ship still there. As they cloaked and prepared to runaway, the Enterprise went to Red Alert and a security team beamed down to the station with an emergency medical team.

The Enterprise followed the possible run path of the Klingon ship to an asteroid belt nearby. If they crossed the the Neutral Zone it would be the end of any evidence.

The Klingons decloaked and tried to use the belt natural heat and dust to confound the Enterprise instruments and be able to ignite a counter-attack. What they did.

Back at the engine room, Cadet Oak gave the suggestion to Mr. Scott to use the Enterprise anti-matter exhausts to cause a quick discharge of cold negative energy and cool the asteroids to be able to locate the Klingon ship by the heat.

The suggestion was accepted an implemented, giving the Enterprise the correct location of the hiding Klingon ship.

The enemies were attacked and surrounded with the arrival of the USS Belknap. The Klingon ship was well hit and lost her shields. This allowed different teams of the two Federation ships to go aboard, surrender the Klingons and take the ship.

The Klingons were imprisoned, charged of crossing the Neutral Zone and break the treaty and all of the previously stolen material recovered.

After the situation returned to normal the Enterprise got back to its original path and Mr. Scott gave all the engineering cadets a special notification for their performances.

Cadet Oak received a special note for his ingenuity.
