vancouver in the fog

vancouver in the fog by buzz.bishop.
at first it was a mystery, the photo has now been credited to Scott Miller / Special to the Vancouver Sun in the january 22, 2009 issue, page A6.

I also received an email from another photographer, Blair Kent, explaining he also took the same shot that morning and this is most likely his.

Excellent BUZZ!! This is the shot I've been wanting to go take all week, but my little one is sick so we've been stuck at home. Oh well... at least you did an amazing job with it. Yay you!

My office is just below the cloudline, next door to the tallest building in that shot. The city has been fading in and out all week.

Being new to the area, what are those mountains in the background? (are they mountains?)

They're peaks in or near Georgia Straight, on the U.S. side of the border. I believe the one on the right is Orcas Island, and the one on the left may be Stewart Mountain southeast of Bellingham, Washington.

And the photographer's name, we have discovered, is Blair. More on the last name when it emerges.

Buzz notes on his blog that "the Vancouver Sun published it on January 22 and credited as Scott Miller / Special to the Vancouver Sun, page A6." Unless Blair can claim otherwise, I think that's definitive.

Yup (and your set is amazing!), but the one composition that seems to be going around, and the one on Buzz's site, looks like Scott Miller's from the Sun. However, after further investigation, it looks like this IS Blair Kent's photo after all.

I will forever remember this photo because 18 minutes after it was taken, my daughter was born at St. Paul's Hospital.

You know what? I just grabbed both this and Blair's version, and they are TWO DIFFERENT PHOTOS. Almost, almost completely identical, but the clouds have moved between this one and Blair's version. Maybe this is Scott Miller's after all. How about that?

This is My Dad's picture, and I love it! :) He set up an account, but doesn't have any friends. You can find him under Blair Kent in the "people" section. Or go to his URL which is www.flickr.com/photos/blair_kent/

Global says it's Scott Miller (based on the credit in the paper). My belief based on the EXIF and other photos in Blair Kent's stream, that it's his (and yes I know that EXIF can be faked).
