Or is it a COMMUNICATION FAIL? Because if they do it how I wish they would do it, it certainly isn't clear.

If you're a pixelmaniac, you may enjoy knowing which size your picture will be resized in. You're right, the message isn't that clear but not worth a "fail" imho, too technical thus.
