Barnsie bear reads 10 Little Sock Monkeys
Barnsie bear feels right at home reading a story book since he once lived at Barnes N Noble bookstore and enjoyed reading many books after store hours. During store hours he and the other bears were to smile and greet the customers as they came into the store.
Barnsie arrived last month and helps City bulldog at his bakery but his real love is reading a good book and sharing it.
Tonight he is reading 10 Little Sock Monkeys to ten sock monkeys who have gathered together, with Barnsie bear, in the cola sleigh.
It's so cozy next to the Christmas tree and a perfect place to read a book.
Can you guess who joins the group for story time?

The sock monkeys have gathered in the old fashioned cola sleigh that sits by the Christmas tree. A cold December night and perfect for story time.
The book is 10 Little Sock Monkeys and guess who is reading to the ten sock monkeys?

Gifted with time, silence and solitude

Gifted with time, silence and solitude
I am amazed how the little mums hang on to their color surviving some of the most brutal cold, winds and snows of December.
I was out in the yard with the Polar Express bell experimenting.
When taking this photo it was at least 7 below zero not counting the frigid wind chills.
I would take a few photos and go back in the house to warm up before venturing out again.
A few years back I stayed at Claire's Well run by Franciscan Sisters.
They were not far from my belated girlfriend's house and during a visit to see her and ride horse and see the basset hounds I enjoyed two days and nights in a small cabin (no plumbing) by a small lake.
There were several cabins of all sizes and a wellness center plus the big old house where meals were served and the chapel and library. They grew their own food and there was a barn and animals and nature paths to walk . You had the choice of going up to get your meals and bring back to your cabin or to join the sisters in family style meals.
I can't say what two days and two nights without the radio or TV or the hustle and bustle of our busy world did for my soul. When Sharon came to pick me up she never saw me so relaxed. She and I went to a coffee shop to talk before we went back to her house. I did write in the journal of my cabin to music or good books I read. I had a candle at night for light. The glow and beauty of the lake under the moon and stars was so refreshing. The entire experience was so renewing and it lasted at least five days before the world's rush won out.
I believe this photo of the mums and silver bell reflect words written in a journal in one of the cabin's at Claire's Well. This came in their news letter.
" I wish I could stay another night to have the opportunity to venture
further into my own resistance to letting go, to stay in my own silence and restlessness and allow myself to be one with myself...."
"Our prayer for you this Season is that you be gifted with time, silence and solitude to be at home with your own selves and those important to you. May your holiday gatherings include time for your soul. At the end of those days, may the quiet of silence and night find you at peace and grateful for who you are. Merry Christmas."

The Hallmark Polar Express bell hangs on the little spruce tree in our yard for a fun but frigid photo shoot.
I love the Polar Express children's book and movie!
The bell that became Santa's first gift of the season in the Polar Express story.
What do you see in the reflection?

Leonard to the rescue

Leonard to the rescue
Crazy cat, Leonard, was out riding the old antique horse, Mr Jones, in the cornfield where Uncle sock monkey was trying out cross country skiing.
As I came running up to Uncle , who was very dazed and confused, I could hear the loud hissing sounds of a crazy cat . As Leonard appeared through the snow and the cornfield riding old Mr. Jones he was crazy with excitement as he pulled back on the reins of the horse. The old wheels came to a squealing stop as crazy cat Leonard reached down trying to pull Uncle up by his hat.
Leonard tells me he was riding along when this colorful object came flying up from the cornfield spinning like a crazed bird !
Leonard giggles, "The way I see it.....I thought that was a mighty strange looking bird as it seemed to take a dive."
Leonard says...." Don't worry, I can go into my ski patrol rescue mode and be of help here ."
