Where the Action Is

Where the Action Is

Winter on the West Coast has been spectacular this year--unless you're a skier that is. I guess I should be doing a rain dance but It's hard to argue with the hand we've been dealt this winter. Big waves and blues skies are always the prescription for one helluva day.

A Winter Morning at the Ridge

A Winter Morning at the Ridge

A morning full of elven magic at the ridge. Over the years this little place on earth has become a magical patch of paradise for my dogs and me. Lately, I've began to see it as an almost sacred spot. But how can a place where the coyotes, deer, and mountain lions run free be anything but sacred?

View in black for a more magical experience.

A Minor Obsession

A Minor Obsession

I have a minor obsession with empty railroad tracks. Don't ask me why. But I'm thinking Freud might have had some not so pleasing things to say about it. I'm sure he would attribute it to feelings of abandonment, fear of the unknown, low self esteem or some other bit of neurosis. My theory is much simpler. I was obviously a rail riding hobo in my last life. Now that I think about it, if I had it to do all over again--I'd definitley be riding around in box cars.

After the Storm

After the Storm

The storm has broken but the voluminous clouds are slow to clear. As usual in these situations along the SF Peninsula, the clouds pile up against the East Bay hills before fanning out across the San Joaquin Valley. The sunny breaks are what the photographer lives for. For you FaceBookers out there, that's the new Facebook campus in East Menlo Park at the bottom of the screen.

For a bigger cloud experience check it out in black.

In the Middle of it All

In the Middle of it All

I've been so caught up in preparing to sell our house that sometimes I just have to step back and catch my bearings. Few things are more soothing than a little journey out with the camera. We got a little rain mixed with periods of hail on this particular day. When the storm started to clear out it left a gentle sunset in it's wake. Standing on the edge of the water I realized that I was right in the middle of it all.
