Márton Gulyás is the managing director
of KRÉTAKÖR.
Krétakör was founded in 1995 by Árpád Schilling and quickly became one of the most well-known and important independent theatre companies in Hungary. After several successful national and international performances, in 2008 Krétakör changed its profile and began a new era as a production company and center for performing arts. Márton Gulyás became managing director with Árpád Schilling as art director.
Márton Gulyás, still in his twenties and a student of the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, debuted as a director on Fringe Festival Budapest in 2006. Since 2008 he took part in several of Krétakör’s productions, e. g. as producer (Crisis trilogy, Oct 2011, Trafó, Budapest) production manager (Apology of the Escapologist, March 2009, Budapest; May Day, May 2010, Pécs, Hungary) and director (New Spectator, August 2010, Ároktő and Szomolya, Hungary; Ungrateful Bastards, July 2011, Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, Germany). He was also the art director of Krétakör’s performance at the 2012 Berlin Biennale, IllumiNation. On CreativeMornings Budapest Márton is going to speak about the new role and tasks of Krétakör and how it can help changing negative social attitudes.
