Taken on an outing with my brother in the not-so-distant past. We spent nearly the whole day at De Soto National Wildlife Refuge, watching deer and blue herons, but the bulk of our time was spent in a muddy, partially flooded parking lot, photographing toads and butterflies. Ah, the simple things that amuse us.

everything you can imagine is real

My buddy Ben and I took a whirlwind tour up the Oregon coast a few weeks ago, from the Oregon Dunes north to Ecola State Park and all points between. If memory serves, this was taken at Strawberry Hill, looking south.

Much of the coast that day was blanketed in a dense layer of fog being blown ashore from the Pacific Ocean, which made for some unique photo opportunities. The fog density changed often depending on the wind speed and direction, so distant features would emerge suddenly, only to vanish within seconds.
