Travis McGee, Boat bum, Salvage Consultant

McGee took his retirement early, in installments. An homage to the great series of John D. MacDonald books is my buddy's salvage flooring business and our mutual retreat from a wired world, where good wood rules the day, and the game is usually playing in the back corner. One decent movie arose from the series, Sam Elliott in "The Empty Copper Sea," and much of James Garner's "Rockford Files" was inspired by McGee. "Green" construction is a new buzz word, but craftsmen have long recognized the value of recycling dense grained, quality salvaged materials.
