Coffee Shacks of Alaska
|
A ten year-long collection of photos of
coffee shacks in Alaska, mostly in
Anchorage but some as far afield as
Fairbanks, North Pole, Juneau,
Glennallen, and Homer.
South-Central Alaska is home to
countless semi-permanent coffee shacks
located in parking lots and on empty
property, along main roads in every
neighborhood from the Hillside to
Mountain View, from Fairbanks to Homer.
The majority in this project were
photographed over three days in December
1998 and January 1999, with more added
as they've been spotted.
Update: July 2004 A 2004 trip to Anchorage, Seward,
Homer, Denali, and Eagle River netted
more than twenty new additions to the
page. The grand total is now 116.
Update: August 2004 "Coffee Shacks of Alaska"
featured in an August 22, 2004 Anchorage Daily News article on the phenomenon.
Update: 1/24/05 15 new shacks added, bringing the grand
total to 133.
Update: 9/1/08 All photos moved to Flickr and
geo-located. Photos from a May 2007
trip were added, as well as photos from
Juneau coffee shacks.
