If you are referring to the AutoCAD -86 sample drawing you are right as there was only 2D back then. John Walker created that based on the cover of a business magazine to test AutoCAD. There were later models in 3D surfaces of the space shuttle and components after AutoCAD got 3D. One of the most famous was the 3D Golden Gate Bridge sample file. I don't think anyone has done of a more accurate model of the Bridge as not many really need the 1/8" precision of the lamps on the bridge for visualization.

I worked on the Golden Gate Bridge seismic retrofit project over 10 years back and had hoped to see some really cool drawings and files. what I found was the GG district still uses many of the old fabrication prints from the first construction and some sections are done as as-built markups and field measurements only.
