I was in Croatia about a month ago. There's a huge selection of pasteta there, and it's one of those things I miss having here where I live.

Cajna refers to tea, so this is a pate (pasteta) you'd have accompany (crackers maybe?) at tea time. This one is particularly delicious on toast, especially at breakfast time.

It's made mostly of pork. I wouldn't go so far as to put it in the same category as fois gras. It's flavour ir very light.

And actually, I took a very similar photo (I thought it was mine at first).

It's probably pretty good. The palette in the US is much different than that of the Balkans, but if you tried it, it prolly wouldn't be that bad :)

why all this fuss?
this pate is meant for kids. it's very light, perhaps a bit too light for adults. we do have all kinds of other pates over here.
but, next time you're in croatia try some dalmatian cheese, prosciutto and olives. bliss.
