The Spime Meme Map is about the industrial players, but the theory object is about the theorists.
This is the Spime Theory Object. Instead of a simple "meme map," like a bunch of boxcars or a circuit diagram, we're depicting a loose, open space of intellectual flows.
Look at all those tagged ideas gushing in and out my pocket ideology here. Some of them are relatively modest, simple notions. Some of them are huge, foggy concepts that are close to metaphysic. Some of are 15 years old and becoming archaic. Some are so new that nobody knows what they mean yet. Some are synonyms. Some are antonyms.
I'm slightly embarrassed that I've created such a crude, raw prototype of a diagram, but really, I'm repairing my ignorance as fast as I can.
Look at the bottom of this theory object. You can see that I've killed off two very important ideas: Artificial Intelligence and panpsychism. Why did I get rid of those? Because they smell too science-fictional to me. I don't think they have any real-world traction. I think they are superstition. I think they're over and done.
Okay, fun over: back to work.
