Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula'
Higan (equinox) and the weeping higan cherries produce delicate blossoms, especially on the weeping variety, which reflects in the water in BBG's Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden. Flower color ranges from nearly white to pale pink. Seeds of this weeping variety were brought from Japan around 1862 by plant hunter Philipp Franz von Siebold.
