This underwater image was taken at the After Dark photo conference I was teaching at in Tucson AZ, hence my absence here on Flickr for this past week. The model was the fantastic Ariann Foley who was modeling for various sessions at After Dark. I wrote a blog post (w/ lots of pics) about the experience..which was AMAZING.

This was my first time shooting in a regular pool (a lap pool) where I modified the actual space. I sank black table cloths to create the black background, allowing the subject to stand out. I taught a large group of people how to shoot underwater when I did this picture, and everyone got beautiful images!

So I got back from the conference eaaaaaaarly yesterday morning, then went straight to teaching more classes until 9pm last night. I am home for one day before going to NYC early tomorrow morning (6am airport...always fun) - but today will be busy too...I have a gallery show to get my butt to, prints to pick up and ship, and lots of preparation for leaving my kitties behind for 9 days! Sad about that, but hey, it is all worth it to go meet Ron Howard!

Your water work is still my favourite part of what you do, always so classically beautiful and haunting.
