The Railway Tavern Popular Road North Common was situated on the right hand side of the road, just before the railway bridge. In 1881, Leonard Jefferies, a 33 year-old carpenter from Wick, lived there with his wife Charlotte, and their two young children. How long he ran the pub is not known, but by 1914, the landlord was Alfred Shipp who remained there until 1939.

1820 Railway Tavern, Poplar Road North Common was built. (Closed down in the 1960's) Now a private residence. Stafford William Ollis died at the Bristol Aeroplane Works on Wednesday 25 September 1940 aged 40 yrs. He is commemorated in the Rural District of Sodbury Gloucestershire Section of the Civilian War Dead Register. He lived at Railway Tavern, North Common, Warmley. Landlords 1885 - 93. Edward Lovelock / 1938 - 39. William Ollis.
