• Some highlights here give a sense of dimension like the letters are embossed in the material that makes up the background.
  • Designer uses the text-shadow property of CSS3 to give dimension to these navigation links. Currently only works in Webkit browsers (Safari).
  • I wish the designer had carried the detail of text-shadow highlighting to give the text on this link dimension. He/she does it in several other places. I think it would have added more richness and consistency to the design.
  • I also like the details like on this horizontal bar that give the design a three-dimensional feel.
  • Just another subtle detail that give this site some texture.

I like the colors used in this site. But what really caught my eye where the details. The designer gave it some texture by adding shadows and highlights to the text.

When viewed in Webkit, even more details emerge with the use of text-shadows to give the navigation links a sense of dimension. And yet the site still looks in browsers that don't pick up this CSS3 property. I wish the designer had carried this idea through in a couple of other areas like the "Check out my Portfolio" link. I think it would have added a little more richness to the design.

I was inspired after looking at this to add some more dimension to a new design I am working on for my personal site. I had already been thinking it was too flat and seeing this design gave me some ideas to give more life to my design.
