Mech Mode

I decided to skip ahead to 2003 from the current 2000 for this MOC, since it's Thanksgiving tomorrow and it seemed appropriate. This weaponized Turkey mech has always been one of my favorite creations, as it's both whimsical and technically elaborate. It doesn't have quite the polish that modern creations have, but I think it can certainly hold its own with today's building styles.

Notice the clean white background? A big change from the older pictures. This dates to after I made the move to my basement lair, with proper overhead lighting and a huge roll of photo background paper.

I remember this being one of my favorite Mocs, probably because it's shaped like a turkey :)

Dude, how come you never pointed this out to me when I first built the Rooster? This is AWESOME! I can't believe I've never seen it before.

Why not, Peter? Because I've been mildly rebuked in the past for frequent posts of "yeah, I did that years ago. yawn." So I try to refrain from saying things like that anymore.

Well, I guess I could understand that. I rather enjoy learning others have the same crazy bugs I do. I giggled to myself, literally, the whole time I was building that chicken. It was great to see that someone else had a similar experience - right down to the animal type!

Excellent!
Would love to see this with a large rocket engine out it's.... and wings lifted to horizontal, cruising around the galaxy.

Peter: I did the exact same thing! The sheer lunacy of the concept kept me giggling like a little school girl during the entire build.

I remember seeing this on your website a few years ago, when my involvement in the online LEGO community was limited to lurking. This is opposed to now, when my involvement is the online LEGO community is limited to the occasional post and then returning to lurking.

I thought this was awesome when I saw it first, and still think so.

When I saw this announced more than 5 years ago, I was totally blown away by the awesomeness of this creation. Absolutely fantastic execution of an almost disturbing idea, but in a funny sense. Even the full story was hilarious to read. It definitely made my day. Great work of art!
