Hunting short eared Owl catching the late afternoon sun.

The shorties were busy hunting on this lovely sunny afternoon.

A powerful dive into the rough grass but I didn't see the owl catch anything.

The shortie was only playing dead and survived this skirmish in the skies above their hunting territory

The lower bird seems to have lost the battle on this occasion.
