Thanks! I'm actually surprised it turned out as well as it did. Had I shot this in digital, a lot of the shadow and highlight detail would be missing. Viva la film!

Nice shot Brian - I'm actually also starting to get back into b & w film on my Nikon N80 - presently trying out Ilford SFX 200 havent completed the first roll yet. Which film have are you using? Are you processing it yourself or sending it out?

I've been using a lot of everything (I bought 1 each of 15 different films last time I went shopping) -- mostly Ilford for the b/w stuff. This particular roll was the Delta 100 -- I'm really liking the results from the Delta films. They usually turn out well exposed and with fairly high contrast. The Delta stuff is also the fine-grain film from Ilford.

I've been having the film developed, but I'm very much considering buying the stuff to do it myself -- especially since it costs me $7.50 for each roll of b/w (and color costs me half that price!).

A quick suggestion? Use the strongest red filter you have as well as a polarizer to increase the Infrared effect on SFX.

I was going to exclaim "15 rolls!" but then I remembered I just bought 40 of colour off ebay this week :D . Developing your own so soon? Wow, seems you got hooked bad! I'm getting really cheap developing at the moment, while doing my own scanning has cut my costs, though it has increased my time workflow....

I think I just bought a roll or two of SFX too -- I'll have to give it a shot with my red filter (I don't have a polarizer yet).

Buying film on ebay, huh? I'll have to look into that... as soon as I figure out which ones I like. And yeah, I'll probably be developing my own b/w soon enough.

Thanks Wolf! I had also heard that from a buddy already using the film. I'll let you know how it turns out.

This is beautiful. I love the light and the reflection. I will be experimenting with black and white film this summer. I look forward to it.

It's fun stuff -- I'm always amazed at how much you can pull out of the film. The range is incredible compared to digital.
