- This is such a cool position to be captured mid flight! The bird seems to be falling, which is very fitting. - Cameron John Sarradet

amidst the fall
I don't like using stock images in my photos- I like to create 'in camera' as much as I can, and the same can be said for this picture. Each of the birds in this photo was actually there. By a stroke of luck, I came into the possession of a dove just before sundown, and dashed out with my cousins to take this.
I took this last month, on the 4th anniversary of my Mom's death. In a sense, it's representative of all the things I experienced four years ago smashed into an apocalyptic concept. Death, pain, numbness, and a seemingly ending world.
Model is the beautiful Amanda.

The story behind this is heartbreaking and you have portrayed it perfectly in the photo. Her expression is beautiful.

This is so hauntingly beautiful - the odd, twisted position of the birds and her almost peaceful expression. I'm really sorry to hear about your mother, but it is lovely to see you are able to translate your grief into something beautiful.

I looked at this photo and like a tidal wave, I started to cry. I felt that horrible unable to describe feeling of loss and emptiness throughout my body. THIS is power of art and why it must be created. My God, it has been a long time since a piece of art has affected me this deeply.

absolutely stunning! I love how each bird has a different pose, as if depicting the different aspects you've been thru in the past 4 yrs since your mother's passing. Her gaze up into the heavens...very emotional and beautiful. Brian, you are so brave and an inspiration for those who have lost someone close to us, your mother I'm sure is looking down at you with such pride.
