Beautiful colours, very nice atmosphere, great scene and magnificent depth ... but what is this photo about ? I really miss the message/story in this photo. With some different technique/post-processing this could have been a scene from the previous century capturing the feeling/emotions/mood of this period. And that is what makes the defender so special, although the scene by its self (car back-lights) is not 100% perfect.

I really like the exposure and clarity in this photo over the current photo. I also think that is a very cool car!

I like the composition of this photo, plus the colors and the exposure is perfect! But the defenders picture has more drama and the subject is is more interesting. sorry!

The challenger's shot is wonderful. The car adds great lines to the composition and also gives the scene a nice "live-in" look and feel. To me, it tells a story of someone coming home and entering a comfortable living space. But I just think the defender's is more dynamic and dramatic. I love the silhouette on the defender's and the rider's posture. So that gets my vote

The Challengers photograph is nice however the defender captured his in a split second and documented an event as it unfolded. The challenger had time to set up, test and adjust. It is for this reason that I am voting the defending image.

I doubt whether the last (two ?) vote(s) is (are) serious ....

This is a clean image and well taken but is of nothing. The only thing holding it's own is the interesting colours. The defenders does feel like a snapshot, but it's got far greater impact which is why it's been in the top 100 for so long.
For what they are, I prefer the defenders.

it was a great challenge and i'm not sure which way i would have voted were i a voter - but looking over the votes, I think it's 3-5, even though it just says 3-4.
