Lickr 0.22 linkifications

Lickr now makes any URL you type into a note field a clickable link.

Most links just look like the URL, only clickable. But some Flickr links -- tags, people, or other photos -- get a little extra treatment.

These screenshots are from this photo.

Ok, now your adding features I had asked for. Cool stuff.

Sweet. I particularly like the picture in picture.

    Awesome!

Now that notes have clickable content, perhaps they would need to stay for a second or so after my cursor leaves the note area (so the note won't disappear while I move the cursor to the note).

setre: If you go directly downwards from the rectangle to the text, it should stay visible. Are you seeing something else?

I suppose you are talking about building in a delay, so one could go slightly outside , or diagonally across the "L" formed by the rectangle + text.

    This is really amazing!!!

I have to find a way to integrate flickRate in this... ;-)

It doesn't seem to work for all people URL:
    www.flickr.com/photos/nicolas-hoizey/3252976/

On this example, when there is "aka" in the comment, it begins with a flickr.com/people/... url but there are some with nothing before "aka" after lickr rendering

Nicolas: yes, there are some bugs with this feature. it doesn't work for people who aren't "pro" users and it won't work for yourself. I have a fix for this coming soon.

  8. Nicolas Hoizey (86 months ago | reply)

You mean it doesn't work is the link leads to a pro account?

  9. Neil (86 months ago | reply)

    Nicolas: try Lickr 0.23 now.

If you find a user for whom this does not work, please let me now.

I also used smaller icons, vertically aligned with the text.

setre: I implemented your timeout suggestion in Lickr 0.23.

    It works now, great!

Neil, this is incredible! Finally Flickr works for me - I run Linux and could never get notes to work (I couldn't even see what notes people have added to my photos say!).

    THANK YOU!

Ben: glad you like it! This is the sort of comment that makes my day.

I just discovered a like bug.

    Try it on www.flickr.com/photos/77568183@N00/9718292/

The "< prev" link is over the note.

  15. Neil (86 months ago | reply)

I know. That seems to come and go though.

The next and prev links are added much later, and absolutely positioned for some reason. So they often appear over the note.

I've handwaved at the problem with z-index but I don't really know how to fix it.

  16. Nicolas Hoizey (86 months ago | reply)

That's OK, it is not that important

I think it lacks the "add to set" button we have in Flickr's default flash interface...

YAY. thx very much for the updates....

  19. Nicolas Hoizey (86 months ago | reply)

It seems Flickr does now almost the same thing you did with Lickr.

Did they contact you to get your work?

  20. Neil (86 months ago | reply)

Nicolas: No. They have been working on this for a very long time.

They did give me a bit of a sneak preview / advance warning, which was very nice of them.

But there are some ideas being exchanged. Read the announcement in the blog, some of the promised features should seem familiar.

OK, great, and nice of them, you're right!

I hope "auto-linking features" will be available soon... ;-)
