I'm not nearly as good as my little brother. He has people send him puzzles without the box so he never even sees the picture. I think I'd get bored if it took any longer so I'll stick with 500 pieces. I can find much better things to do (like take pictures).

After turning all the pieces face-up I gather all the border pieces and put them together. Then arrange chunks by color. Then arrange the chunks and fill in the gaps. It's definitely an algorithmic approach.

That's the way I do it too. I build chunks of the puzzle and place them where they will fit. Still, 2 hours is a great time!
