Hello from Douglasville, GA.
I (the photographer) live in California, but the subject (the polar bear) of my photo:

http://www.rockslidephoto.com/cgi-bin/leaf.pl?id=2252&gallery=14

was shot along the NW coast of the island of Spitsbergen, which is part of Svalbard, which is where I've placed this note. Note: no ice!
I'm also cheating a bit, cause I don't live here year round - nobody does! However, I spent part of every year here at http://www.marsonearth.org - we test equipment (drills, space suits, etc) that might get used on the moon or mars!
I'm in Portland, and I'm also studying geography.

Good idea! Let her be one of the smart kids who actually knows where things are on the map.

She learns WAY more in our study sessions than the eight simple facts she must memorize for her weekly geography quiz. The US education standards are ridiculously low! Most of these kids, I'm convinced, can learn MUCH more than they are being taught.

I do need to remember to do my geography. That was a great idea for telling people to show where they're from. I really love to learn geography because I like learning about the earth. Thank you for teaching me about the earth.

Cool idea! Geography was one of my favorite subjects in school and one of the few subjects where I still remember what I was taught almost 20 years ago.

Thank you. I like geography too. I didn't post this with the intention of having people add notes. The idea came to me as I was writing the description. It's been great fun for me and Skye. I think it's good for her, especially, to see the notes from our international friends and realize it's a big world filled with many wonderful people.

I know exactly what Boulder looks like. I graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder in 1991. It's a wonderful place and was on our short list when we were deciding where we wanted to move to from Kansas.

I cheated a bit, but I'll be up there (Devon Island, Nunavut) in a couple of weeks. We post lots of updates on the website, and I'd be happy to answer (or find answers for) any questions Skye might have about it!

Well, hello to a fellow Boulderite! I mostly grew up in Boulder, but went to high school in California. When I moved back to Boulder a few years ago I lived right across Viele Lake from Fairview, but I now live in Martin Acres.
