Since I haven't been able to use my 30" display for two months due to the dual-link DisplayPort adaptor debacle, I've gone from hating Spaces to being completely dependent on it. I started at 2x1, then bumped it to 2x2, then 3x2, and today settled on 3x3.
Each row is setup for a specific kind of task:
• Row 1, communication: email, newsreader, and notes from
meetings/phone
• Row 2: programming: editors, terminals, browsers
• Row 3: media: photos, images, video, music
Spaces is set to automatically move each application to the appropriate row/column, and most of the apps launch immediately when I login.
