The term is called "Dickriding" ... that's when the innovative gets pushed to the mainstream and all the dickriders join the posse. Dilution and confused hysteria ensues, rendering the innovators to get sickened and leave the very innovation they began in the first place. This applies to almost every subculture phenomenon in my lifetime.

and not offered in the usa? that's right, cause nokia's presence in the states has been crap ever since the release of the 3600. it was the same year as all those other stupid keyboard layouts and that fashionable dildo phone.

don't get me wrong, i used to love nokia. and up until the iphone, the nokia 8890 was my favorite phone of alllllll time. i just think its retarded that they had to resort to talking shit. but i guess we now know who's who in the cell phone industry and who's not.

Apple is very innovative...when it comes to marketing their products.

I honestly thought you were talking about apple when I first saw your picture, but then I realized that you couldn't have been because you said the word "innovative."

-_-

Let me know how the iphone works out when you have to send it back to Jobs so he can change the battery. That's very forward thinking if I've ever seen it. I guess you will be back to your 8890 -

i guess we'll have to see. although, technology tends to move faster than batteries dying. i can't think of the last time i've replaced a phone's battery before updating the phone. and even if the batteries last, the phones usually don't. lets see... wiggly hinge on the razr, lint behind the screen of the razr, scratched screen on the sony/bb pearl, squishy battery door on the bb pearl, and loose antenna on the v. no problems with the 8890, but didn't have it for long as it slipped out of my pocket. i did drop it, along with most of my other phones. and depending on the damage, that was reason enough to buy a new phone. shoot, a simple color change from silver to black on the razr was a good enough reason.

and i'm sure i'll be on the 16gb 3g iPhone before i power up another 8890.

and how about features??? when's the last time you've updated your phone with new features??? and without buying a newer model. i can't recall a single time i've updated a firmware on a phone. but with the iphone, i've already done it three times.

I can appreciate your point of view regarding the iphone and it's updates...IMO, every company should do something similar. However, I wouldn't be quick to discount Nokia (or any other) in terms of FW updates. Just look at the recent influx of updates for Nokia's flagship, the N95 8GB. As of about a week ago, Nokia enabled the N95 8GB to play flash files directly from the phone's browser (FULL YOUTUBE SUPPORT!) as well as performance boosts. If that isn't an update, I don't know what is -

If el Jobs announced such a feature at Macworld, you would be all over it. Instead, you get the ability to send SMS to more than one person at a time.

Oh come on all ye Apple Righteous ones! I think you're probably a bit bitter because you EXCLUSIVELY get to pay 3 times the amount of a phone that really doesn't do much more than your average Nokia these days.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Apple at all. I'm a proud Mac owner but for the same reasons and more that I own an NSeries. Flexibility:
I hold my presentations, control everything in Front Row, instant message my mates OR SKYPE MY MATES on the move, watch movies in many different formats (YES INSTANT YOUTUBE TOO & I cand download them), listen to music, buy music, play games, buy games, look at photo slide shows, TAKE BETTER PICTURES, upload them to flickr, VIDEOCALL my mates and much more all from my N95 all without having to touch my screen. I even use iTunes & iPhoto to sync my media.

I don’t know about you but I got my phone for FREE on contract and didnt have to pay extortionate monthly fees to my provider.

I'm really sorry but you iPhoners must feel a bit miffed! If not you should be, especially with the looming fact that you will have to PAY for new apps for your iPhone 2.0. As for us Nseries types we have a CHOICE. Libertation is sweet! Dont mean to go all Biblical but you should try eating that Apple of yours, might give you some true knowledge!

I think there’s is a surreptitious message in the iPhone ad-campaign; ''HELLO''?! www.flickr.com/photos/solwerks/835640270/

I think the whole app process is just another way for apple to regulate everything and keep their eco-system the way they want it. It just seems a little too closed for my blood. I do like that they will be offering countless apps as time goes on, but they have the say what can and can not go on an iphone.

Further, they won't allow apps that can run in the background, so, umm, what's the point? Instead of increasing the phone's specs to allow it to accommodate the obvious hog on resources, they keep it the same and place limits on what can be done. So no, I'm not impressed. Oh yeah, and most people who buy the phone don't even know or care what sdk is. They are still wondering why their phone has:

-the same camera!?
-no mms?
-plastic instead of metal?
-no cut and paste?
-a higher price than the last one with the new pricing structure?
-restrictive bluetooth?

Apple makes me laugh though. They add geo-tagging to a non-autofocus, 2MP camera. I don't think they know that the camera sucks -

it has been always fun to see how apple is successful on creating blindfolded apple fanatics...

for instance, its a shame that with commodore amiga, apple used the famous motorola mc68k series processor which is capable of true multitasking (not task switching or such) on in mid 80s... and look at their famous iphone now :) its like a time machine... working on reverse way though...

very well packed for an average american-type consumer whom willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for next two years to have an style-item iphone... how desperate to be hip... sad...

it is not about hate or love apple / iphone or what so ever... i presume that you are a designer or somewhat involved to that thing so it is obvious that you grown up with "designers use mac" hoax, so i am pretty sure that you possibly have the every gadget manufactured or approved by apple can be found on your inventory... because, you know, its from apple and you should buy it :) that is the success of the apple my friend :)

learn to live with the other people :)

just a question: did u ever tried to delete all the contacts on your iphone without restoring your iphone or any other tricks like syncing with an empty address book or what so ever? :)

i'm just happy that my address book syncs for the first time and with all of its content including random ish like notes and profile pics.

and haven't you heard of vertu? if you want to talk about 'style-item' phones. i'm actually sadden by the fact that they made the 3g iphone cheaper to accommodate the 'average' consumer. should they drop a premium version in the future with a metal casing, i'll be all over it.

and yes, most of my toys are made by apple, but who cares because i'm sure most of your toys have been influenced by them too.

Wow you got a lot of shit for this post. I didn't realize Nokia fans were so....scratch that, I didn't realize Nokia HAD fans. :O That picture is still hilarious.

Oh man we're going to cry when we have to send our iPhones back to Apple to replace the battery....oh wait, no one gives a shit! Seriously I've never had a battery go bad on any cell phone I've ever used. My four razr's all pretty much fell apart but I just kept buying new ones. :/

My 3G iPhone is on the way!

Haha, I hear you shigeta regarding the cheaper price. Apple does have the whole "boutique" thing going on and they should have ran with that image. You don't want this thing turning into a razr (even though hokorii will still buy it). My gf wanted to dump her v.1 after the 3G came out: "everyone has one now and they are made out of plastic!"

...I assure, you, most of my toys have not been influenced by Apple. Well, I had a Zune (which sounded like crap) so I'm pretty sure they copied Apple in that capacity ;)

hokorii:

Haha, not giving him shit, just trying to spark conversation

Hmm, Nokia only has about 50% market share in the world. I'm sure they have fewer fans than Apple -_-

The problem is precisely that no one gives a shit about the battery...many people take what's given to them and try to justify their decision. You're doing good! Keep it up!

I kid.

Oh, and the app store is definitely the shit (no sarcasm). Nokia's download app on their phones is trash. I will give it up to Apple on this front -

I wonder what make you to put there N800 ? it was (while manufactured) far above whatever phones were on market, leave alone completely open system -- and you put it in one line with Apple which IS keeping everything closed and adjusted to tastes of mr Fruity Dickhead ... you are not telling truth to people :(
