Geometry and Patterns: The Essence of Nature

One of the reasons I'm absolutely addicted to any kind of synchronized performance (whether it be synchronized gymnastics, swimming, dance, or cheerleading) is because I love finding lines, shapes, and patterns. Natural geometry adds a wonderful dynamic to my experience of life -- it allows me to start to comprehend nature's intricacy and complexity.

How is is that 10^80 atoms in the observable universe can align in the perfect orientation to create seemingly perfect lines, curves, and shapes? How is it that, over millions of years, they can slowly settle into a formation that creates something as mystical as a diamond? How is it that humans can manipulate all of those atoms into creating geometrically-perfect and symmetrical structures? How is it that all of these atoms have come together to form the circles, ellipses, and countless other complex shapes which comprise (and enable) the human body?

The answers to these questions, I'll probably never know. But to pass the time, I can watch eagerly as the products of brilliant choreography and truly gifted performers intermingle and put these already wonderful shapes, lines, and patterns into motion!
