Manhattans
Most people who know me know that I'm not a fan of alcohol. There are a couple of reasons for this 1) I'm not good with moderation. If I like something then I go all out. 2) Alcohol tastes horrible to me.
When we got to Vesuvio I figured I'd just get a Coke or Pepsi like I do in every bar. When the waitress came by Chad asked for a Manhattan. I wasn't real sure what that was so I was looking forward to finding out. Then Robert and T.J. both chimed in with "me too". Then for some reason out of my lips came "me too". I have no idea why.
So the waitress brought out 4 manhattans. I took a sniff and about lost it. It did not smell good. I then took a taste and really about lost it. It was so bad. Chad loved it so I'm guessing they were tasting as they were intended. I waited a couple minutes and tried again thinking that maybe it was just a bad first sip. Nope. It was horrible. So Chad took mine and when the waitress came around again he asked her if there was anything good that I could have that didn't taste like alcohol. Basically he should have asked for the pansy drink because they brought out this pink thing that tasted like lemonade. It tasted alright but it was the wuss drink. But I think Chad put it best when he said "at least it didn't come with an umbrella."
Later that night we went to the bar at the Marriott. I decided I'd try again and I had a Colorado Bulldog (or something like that). It had kaluha and tasted like a root beer float. I felt a lot better drinking it than the fu fu drink. It tasted alright but I followed it up with a nice ice cold Coke.

Thanks for the compliments. When I saw the photo I knew I had to try out a partial black and white. It turned out better than expected.

The partial black and white is stunning. I especially like the reflection(refraction, distortion... what to use I can't choose) in the stem of the glass in the foreground. Great way to redeem a drink you didn't like.

Hey, my name is Dani and I’m from the San Francisco Public Television and Radio station, KQED. I think the way you distorted the colors really creates an amazing photo. We have a Flickr pool on our KQED homepage, and this is a great example of what we are trying to portray in our pool of Bay Area photos. I encourage you to submit it to our KQED Photo Gallery Pool, and then you'd have the opportunity to see it on our homepage.
