He was overplayed for sure. Caught him as an opening act before he hit big and I have to say,I was impressed. Great band, immediately likeable material. Did a decent cover of "30 Days In The Hole".

I think his achilles heal was lyrics.

But as you hopefully drew from my comment of nine months ago :-D it was nice hearing John once in awhile with "Hand To Hold Onto" or "The Authority Song" or whatever, but radio airplay for him was just overkill so that pushed me (and I'm sure plenty of other folks) away.
