Very cool find...and who doesn't love costumes from back in the day when they were actually cut and stitched and made from groovy materials like satin, cotton and the like, with the Union Seal of approval....as apposed to the garbage that's passed today. They can keep it. I'd wear that dress today. Greetings, C...

You should add this to the Vintage Halloween pool!!!

Oh dear, I'd almost forgotten that we really did make our own costumes way back when. But then, Halloween just doesn't seem to be celebrated by children here in NYC anymore. Too many stories of razor blades in apples, and hallucinogens in candy, perhaps.

I find it incredibly sad that families just dump pics etc at an "antique mall" once the person has passed. I think it's great that there are folks out there who buy those pics--this one is darling!

Even more precious is that some of us who have been buying and preserving these treasures have been digitalizing and sharing these wonderfully frozen moments of time. Perhaps these photos lost their value to the descendants of those of originally cherished them, but now the entire world can appreciate and love them.

I love the shot, but think it's sad that only 50 years ago this person was a loved and treasured child and that today no one has enough of an emotional connection to her to want a photo of her.

I think that the sadest thing here is that many people just don'tcare about the past. The present is all that matters to them, so old photographs are discarded .
Those who do so eventually regret their carelessless. Photographs are often the only links we have to someone who has passed on, or places that no longer exist in the manner in which they were before. Each photo is unique, a moment frozen in time forever.

I have a pic of my sister wearing an outfit very similar to this from the early '50s. I'll see if I can hunt it down.
