1975: And the Changes To Come
Push a Button, Get a Meal. Among tomorrow's "wife-savers" is this working model of a combination electronic oven and food freezer. Meals are prepared in advance and stored in the individual freezer compartments, each one labeled on the corresponding push buttons. At dinner time, the housewife pushes the appropriate buttons; and in less than half an hour, the full meal emerges at the rear end of the appliance, hot and ready to serve (lower picture).

Actually, I do batch cooking myself, and a gizmo like that would be pretty cool. And for the totally cooking impaired, the food units could be bought at the grocery.

I love the general theme that every action in life should be reduced to pushing a button. Don't use a knob to open a cabinet, push a button! Don't pull a tape or book off a shelf, push a button!

I imagine it tasted like something that came out the "rear end of an appliance". ;)
