"Minerva of Peace"
Library of Congress, Jefferson Building's Great Hall.
This large mosaic mural by Elihu Vedder is a portrait of the "Mirnerva of Peace". With part of her armor laid aside, she stands guard before the Main Reading Room. On her ight is a statue of Victory; at her left, her symbol, the owl. She is holding in her hand a scroll that lists various departments of learning, science, and art.
