almost a WIP - alice brooks mouse tea towel

yummy
almost a WIP - alice brooks mouse tea towel by bookwormbethie.
Thank you Bunsakura for sharing this cute mouse from a vintage Alice Brooks pattern!

I love picking out the colors of floss I plan to use before I begin, but I'm having some trouble deciding on the mouse's fur. I'm leaning toward 3782, light mocha brown, because it's a light color and neutral-ish so hopefully any color I decide to use for her dress and bonnet will match. But 3864, light mocha beige, just seems to have a cinnamon-y warmth to it ;)

Oh I'm so indecisive! What do y'all think?

I vote for 3864. Although picking would be easier if I saw what other colors you planned to use.

I write the numbers in the same spot as well with a fine point marker. My numbers start to rub off the more I handle it but they can be easily written again.

oops sorry but i vote for 3782
i like that it is more neutral to me, and i think it would go with more colors, and it looks more mousey to me :o)

thanks y'all for the advice and i decided to go with 3684, my hubby also chose that one too ;) but if i start stitching and it doens't look quite right, i'll switch to 3782

@ctw, i also write the color's name on the back that dmc assigns to each number ;)

I write the name in the main body of the plastic thingy (which gets hidden by the floss), on the front and the back and I also write the number in the same spot on the back as the front.

i think it's neat to hear how people write on their cardboard bobbins and organize their floss boxes, some people place the bobbins on their "side" so you see the floss, while others place the bobbins right side up so you see the # first.

i only write the # on the front and write the color name on the back, i write the color name so its visible, i write things like V DK or MD (very dark or medium) to the left of the hole, and the actual color name like 'garnet' or 'blue' to the right.

you all will think me horrible then, i only just started writing the numbers on. i didnt thnk it really mattered, but it is very nice for stocking up to know what you have....duh.
plus i use to get the plastic ones (i hate those) and never had anything handy to write on them with. i like the cardboard ones much better

the plastic ones seem nice because they are probably more durable but i started out buying the cardboard ones so i could write on them.

and nope you're not horrible at all ;) but the # system is definitely handy for just what you said, knowing what to stock up on ;) and also knowing that you don't need to buy certain ones at the store cuz you already have them ;)

I buy the plastic ones and write on those with a black permanent fine tipped marker. I have a few of the cardboard ones but find them so thin they bend when trying to put the floss on. I use the cardboard ones for the cheap cross stitch kits I have that have floss that I'm not sure of the brand that way I don't mix them up with "the good stuff".

So when is your birthday Beth?

Does that make it the 18th? I'm mathematically challenged ya know. You don't have to feel old because on June 1st I turned 33 and Hubby still likes to joke with me that I'm 29. But now I just say I'm 30.
